On January 27 there was an official opening of the exhibition "Fight for young people" dedicated to the youth organizations and movements in the 1900s and 1930s. The ceremony opened with a march performed by the city drummer group "Union of Boys and Girls".
Elena Anatolievna Lysenko, acting general director of the Museum of Political History of Russia, made a welcoming speech:
"Today we are presenting a research exhibition, which shows the continuity between the youth military and patriotic organizations of the Russian Empire and the organizations already of the Soviet period. This succession, in our opinion, continues to this day".
At the opening were present the chairman of Saint-Petersburg archives committee Peter Tischenko; research officer of "Tsaritsino" museum Mikhail Trenikhin who gave items from his collection especially for the exhibition; the scoutmaster of Organization of Russian Young Scouts Gury Popov; the chairman of Youth Parliament at the Legislative Assembly of Saint-Petersburg Dmitry Agafonov; the advisor of Ombudsman in Saint-Petersburg Ekaterina Yakimovich and the chairman of Youth Union of St. Petersburg at the annual general meeting of the collegium also made a speech during the opening ceremony.
Ekaterina Dmitrievna Maskevich, the curator of the exhibition, described its problems and thanked her colleagues and partners who took part in its creation.
At the end of the solemn part was a tour around the exhibition.
The exhibition will be open until March 5. The visitors can be acquainted with the main Russian youth structures of that period (Sokol, "poteshnoye", scout, pioneer movements), learn about the state and public figures involved as tutors.
